Job Description: A&R (Artist and Repertoire)
Objective of the Role: The A&R Manager is responsible for scouting and developing musical talent, overseeing the artistic development of artists and bands, and acting as a liaison between the artist and the record label or entertainment company. This role requires a keen understanding of current trends in the music industry and the ability to utilize technology to discover and promote new talents. A crucial aspect of this position is also managing relationships with investors to secure funding for new projects and artist promotions.
Main Responsibilities:
Talent Scouting and Development:
Identify promising artists and bands through various channels, including live performances, social media platforms, and music streaming services.
Negotiate contracts with new artists and oversee their developmental processes within the company.
Work closely with artists to develop their style, music, and overall brand.
Project Coordination:
Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, sales, and production to create coherent project plans that align with the company’s strategic goals.
Ensure that music production meets the company’s quality standards and artists’ creative visions.
Organize and attend recording sessions, and provide creative input and direction.
Market Analysis:
Stay informed about the latest trends in the music industry, including technological advancements in music production and distribution.
Analyze market data to guide the promotion strategies for new releases.
Investor Interaction:
Develop and maintain relationships with investors and stakeholders.
Assist in preparing presentations and financial projections for investors that showcase new talent and projects with potential high returns.
Communicate the financial needs of new projects to investors and help secure funding.
Artist Relations:
Maintain strong relationships with artists and their management to ensure their needs are met and they are satisfied with the company’s support.
Manage artist schedules, promotional activities, and public appearances.
Skills and Qualifications:
Language: business English required
Education: Degree in Music Business, Arts Management, or related field.
Experience: Proven experience in A&R, music production, or a similar role in the music industry. Experience in using technology for music scouting and marketing.
Experience of working with investors appreciated
Skills:
