The Embassy of Denmark in Korea is seeking an Innovation Officer with experience and ambition (Maternity cover 1.5 years duration)

Do you want to make an impact through global innovation collaboration? And can you work comfortably across government-, research-, and business segments to develop strong innovation collaborations? Then you could be our new colleague at the Danish Innovation Centre in Seoul. We are looking for a strong candidate to create more opportunities for Danish-Korean collaboration within research-based innovation.


About us

Innovation Centre Denmark (ICDK) is a partnership between The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Higher Education and Science, with seven locations globally. ICDK Seoul was established in 2013 and is part of the Embassy of Denmark in Korea. With a mission to strengthen collaboration on research & innovation between Korea and Denmark, we focus on science diplomacy, green growth, biotech and digitisation while seeking to connect policy, research and commercial value.
ICDK works on consultancy basis for Danish enterprises, as well as a supporting universities and research institutions on creating partnerships with Korean counterparts. The centre performs its effort mainly through the following activities: Communication and events; project and program management; fundraising and business development.
Our team consists of seven people, and we are a part of a vibrant international workplace with approximately 30 people in the Embassy of Denmark. 


Job description, tasks and responsibilities
Our innovation officers are vital to the team and work within the area of green transition, life science and digitalisation. An important responsibility for an Innovation Officer is to create and maintain contacts and partnerships with Korean organisations, companies and research institutions in order to identify the right partners for Danish stakeholders including public and private sector, universities, and research institutions. 
We currently have an opening for a 1.5 year maternity cover as innovation officer, who will be delivering research and advisory services to Danish organisations and be responsible for various ongoing and developing projects. 
The Innovation Officer is responsible for preparing decision making material for ICDK management, ensuring compliance and project progress on ICDK activities, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and developing new innovative activities and services to Danish and Korean stakeholders.


Requirements and Working Conditions
The Innovation Officer is a full time position (37.5 hours per week), and we are looking for a candidate with:
•   A relevant university degree with minimum 3 years of relevant work experience related to either green transition and energy, tech & digitisation, or bio- and life science. Master’s degree is an advantage. 
•   Strong analytical skills and deep knowledge on Korean strategies in R&D, industry and technology development; this qualification is required to identify potential collaboration opportunities with Danish partners.
•   Well established network and profound knowledge in Korean public sector and academia to create partnerships and facilitate new collaboration opportunities. Network and experience from the business sector (corporates or start-ups) is an advantage.
•   Strong interpersonal skills to openly communicate with colleagues and external partners at all levels across the organisation.
•   Team orientation, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently. 
•   Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Korean and English.

Process and Timeline

Starting date will be August 1st or as soon as possible, upon mandatory security clearance by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
