Job Description:
The Press and Media Coordinator (Broadcast) works under the direct supervision of the Press and Media Specialist or Public Affairs Officer (PAO) designee. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Identifies and advises Mission leadership on strategies for promoting accurate, balanced South Korean broadcast media coverage of U.S. foreign policy and American interests; correcting misinformation; and countering disinformation. Builds productive relationships with broadcast professionals in person and online. Performs other duties as needed.
Job Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in a media outlet, think tank, university, NGO, international organization, foreign embassy, government office or corporation is required, with responsibility for public relations, public affairs, journalism, communications, marketing, managing public relations, outreach events, press conferences, and other media interactions as significant parts of the job.
EDUCATION:
A university degree in Journalism, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Public Relations, or local equivalent/related major is required.
LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing English and Korean is required. Please do list all your language skills (including your first language). Failure to list all the required language skills needed for the position will automatically disqualify your application.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to take an English language test unless official English language test scores (TOEIC scores of at least 945/ TOEFL scores of at least 95) are submitted with application.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have excellent written and oral communication skills to speak publicly; write reports, press releases, and other products; engage in on-line fora; and contribute to publications in English and Korean. Ability to identify, analyze, predict, and continually assess attitudes of broadcast media outlets and information consumers across a wide range of thematic policy areas is required.
