We are now hiring qualified Mandarin teacher to fill positions at our Secondary campus, which caters to 12-18 year olds.
All applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and experience in a Secondary setting is highly desirable.

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and passionate Mandarin teacher to join our BEK secondary school team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive Mandarin language instruction to students, as they work towards their IGCSE qualifications.

• Plan and deliver high-quality Mandarin language lessons that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students are motivated to learn Mandarin and develop their language skills.
• Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
• Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their language development.
• Work with middle school students to build their Mandarin language capabilities, and actively encourage them to pursue their studies into the upper school (KS4) and IGCSE qualification
• Prepare older students for the IGCSE Mandarin examination, covering all aspects of the curriculum including listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Mandarin language learning across different subject areas and promote cross-curricular connections, including celebration of important cultural events
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, curriculum updates, and other relevant information.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in language education. 

Job Requirements

• Preferred Bachelor's degree in Mandarin Chinese, Education, or a related field.
• Preferred Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification for teaching Mandarin in secondary schools.
• Essential - Experience teaching Mandarin language courses at the secondary level,
• Preferred - Experience of preparing students for IGCSE Mandarin examinations.
• Strong proficiency in both spoken and written Mandarin Chinese, as well as English

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students in language learning.
• Flexibility, creativity, and a passion for promoting cross-cultural understanding through language education.
• Sense of humour.

Other Information

Working Time

The normal working day runs from 8.00am-4.45pm. All full-time members of staff should be available on campus throughout the working day unless they have been given specific permission by the Headteacher or are engaged in some official activity. Staff have a 60 minute break.
