Part-Time IB DP Computer Science

Job Posting: Part-Time IB DP Computer Science 

Gyeonggi Suwon International School is seeking a highly qualified and experienced IB Computer Science teacher with a strong background across a wide range of computer science courses and skills including javascript, coding, programming language, data structures, software program development, algorithms, software development, hardware fundamentals, and computer-related concepts. This position would require knowledge of Design Technology at the Diploma Programme (DP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) levels. Experience with teaching all levels (HL and SL) is preferred. 

For the role of IB DP, the candidate will have a strong knowledge of teaching inquiry and taking a concept-based approach to teaching science. The candidate will be highly knowledgeable of the development and alignment of curriculum and work collaboratively as a team player with the science department members to develop professional expertise and practices consistently across the department.

Reports to: Secondary Principal

Job responsibilities:

1. Planning, assessing, and reporting student progress.

2. Collaboration in professional learning communities (PLC) regularly with department teachers weekly and grade level teachers at least monthly.

3. Attend professional development both in-school regularly on Monday afternoons and in-service days.  

4. Attend professional development training within the region when selected by principals and coordinators as opportunities arise. 

5. Fulfill additional duties which include lunch/recess supervision, homeroom mentoring, and study hall supervision. 

6. Utilize digital tools to transform instruction and support student learning. 

7. Support inquiry-based and project-based learning strategies.

Other job responsibilities include:

1. Collaborate with the Special Needs Coordinator, ELL Coordinator, librarian, and other student support service leaders to provide students with successful academic support.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent in biology required;

• Teacher certification for secondary grades 6-12 is required;

• At least three years of classroom teaching experience;

• International Baccalaureate DP/MYP or Advanced Placement experience preferred;

• Master's Degree preferred;

• International experience is preferred.

• Strong English language skills
