On-Call Substitute Teacher, Junior Kindergarten (Age 3) through Grade 12

Gyeonggi Suwon International School is seeking qualified candidates to work as on-call substitute teachers to support and implement a quality Christian, International Baccalaureate program in grades Junior Kindergarten (Age 3) to Grade 12. As an on-call substitute, the teacher is called daily whenever there is a need and is paid per day. This is not a salary position.

Job Description:

·      Assume the responsibilities for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.

·      Present the lessons according to the schedule provided by the absent teacher.

·      Replace teachers and teacher aides in all grade levels from the Junior Kindergarten (3 years old) through Grade 12.

·      Maintain, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.

·      Assume responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and during lunch and other activities.

·      Consult, as appropriate, with the principal or department head, before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the lesson plans.  

·      Maintain appropriate records including marking student absences and tardies.

·      Report to the teacher and/or principal of any incidents of misbehavior.

·      Circulate through the classroom consistently checking on students and answering questions.

·      Follow all school policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching dictates.

·      Reports to: Elementary and Secondary Principals, and Substitute Coordinator

Substitute hours of duty:

o   7:50 am- 3:30 pm

o   The school year goes from early August to mid-June. (No work days in the summer months)

o   For additional pay, some extra hours may be asked on Korean holidays, Saturday Teacher Work Days, Parent Teacher Conferences and Teacher In-service days.

Daily rate: The on-call substitute is paid at a daily rate of 120,000 KRW per day.

Qualifications:

·      Bachelor of Arts or equivalent

·      English proficiency required in reading, writing, and speaking. Korean proficiency preferred.

·      At least three-year experience working in a classroom setting.

·      Willingness to promote and educate in Christian values and Biblical teachings.
