*Objectives of the Position :
- According to the general guidance of the supervisor developed on the base of EHS mandatory requirements and Responsible Care ® principles and practices, lead the implementation of the Safety and Health(SH)
programs to ensure the compliance of company, corporate and mandatory requirements; and assure
management’s initiatives in taking necessary actions to raise employee awareness of risks and to reduce,
avoid and protect employee from hazards and occupational illnesses in the workplace.
*Main Tasks :
- Implementation of EHS concepts (mandatory and Responsible Care ®) and LTO(license to operation)
Interpret and communicate the applicable company, corporate and mandatory EHS regulations and
requirements to the line management, including recommendation on implementation and improvement actions to support meeting the safety and environmental protection standards.
Monitoring and compliance for license to operation(LTO) including authorities permits based on EHS regulation
- EHS preventive measures, objectives and lead process safety
Implement the agreed company safety standards and preventive guidelines by working with line managers to
identify the common safety/ health hazards inherent in the company’s existing and future operations processes covering production, transportation, warehousing work processes/ product etc in order to enforce EHS
implementation to eliminate the damages related to industrial hazards.
Review new/ existing products, equipment, and processes for potential hazards and recommend to the
supervisor and line management modifications.
Interpretation of the process safety(PS) requirements and lead process safety(SMS/PSM, Stature, Safety
Review 1+2,3,4, Revalidation review(RR), Crean sheet review(CSR)) based on BASF PS & SMS/PSM
requirements.
- SH (mandatory and Responsible Care ® ) education
Consolidate the training needs to help identify the SH training/education programs, schedules and target
groups to strengthen the employees’ awareness on SH. May need to conduct training/ workshop, introduction programs.
1) Supervise the process to organize the education/ training programs to ensure the delivery and follow-up on
the course evaluations to help decision-making on the use of such program.
2) May need to supervise issuing regular newsletter to collect SH suggestions, concerns and informing
employees the SH practices.
- Monitoring SH performance
Identify and interpret applicable SH regulations to recommend priorities and improvement actions, including
developing safe work practices and measures with line personnel to monitor conformance through safety and housekeeping inspections.
Organize the audits of SH performance with the necessary BASF or external partners and initially consolidate/summarize the performance reports in order to ensure the correct and consistent implementation of the SH
requirements/regulations, and alert line management the detected problem areas.
- Communication with internal/external
Communicate EHS issues with internal and external parties(MOEL, Fire station, Yeosu city, KOSHA, KGS,
KEA, YPSC(여수석안회), Regional/Global EHS function group) and provide interpretation guideline to all
affected teams and employees
- Accident follow-up
According to the supervisor’s guidance and company requirements, assist in/ lead the investigation of
occupational accidents or problem areas to recommend improvement/ preventive measures.
- Documentation
Establish and maintain a documentation system(ISO, SMS/PSM) to keep company, corporate and mandatory SH rules/ regulations, communication materials, inspection and audit reports/ materials etc to ensure that the major activities are properly documented according to needs.
Initially prepare SH statistics, analysis and reports (e.g. accidents, training times) for internal and external
(BASF, government authorities, third party auditor where applicable) use in order to help monitor the
conformance of company/ corporate/ mandatory SH requirements.

1) Employee: total 12 persons [5 engineers, 6 Fire brigades, 1 SHOP]
2) Related facilities: All plants in Yeosu Site
3) Related authorities: MOEL, Fire station, Yeosu city, KOSHA, KGS, KEA, YPSC(여수석안회)
*Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position :
- Education: Bachelor of chemical engineering or related.
- Working Experience: at least, more than 10 years chemical plant experience.
- Technical & Professional Knowledge: Knowledge of local/international regulation, SMS/PSM, Risk analysis
and Root Cause Analysis etc
- If any, additional requirements e.g. language skills, licenses, etc. :
1) English skill for reading, writing and speaking for related technical matter./Native level of Korean
2) Process operation skill, Emergency preparedness, Risk assessment for process. SMS/PSM operation
3) Licenses : National Technical Qualification certificate for Occupational safety manager(산업안전기사),
Fire fighting safety manager for 1st level(1급 소방안전관리자 자격)
